There's a 'K' model flying? There were only about 1,500 of the Dallas - built Mustangs made.

Yes it is an interesting story actually. The aircraft in question (left of frame) once called Duxford her home as part of the Fighter Collection. At the time she was thought to be P-51D known as "Twilight Tear" of the 78th Fighter Group and wore those very colours. However during a trip to the US for overhaul in 2007 it was discovered that she was in fact P-51K, 44-12016. I guess having no real connection to Duxford, the Fighter Collection decided to sell her and she was sold to the Friedkins Comanche Fighters in the US. She was restored and repainted into these beautiful Pacific colours. However in 2011 the Horsemen display team decided to ship a pair of Mustangs over to the UK so that they could perform in their own aircraft rather than use UK based machines. So she was shipped back to Duxford for one last time before heading back to the US permanently.
