I was very saddened to hear that the Republic of Korea Air Force Aerobatics Team The Black Eagles suffered a fatal accident a few days ago when one of their aircraft crashed during training.
Having made their European debut back in July at the RAF Waddington International Airshow and at the Royal International Air Tattoo. There was not one person in attendance at either show that didn't go home stunned at their superb performance. Without any doubt they performed the finest aerobatic display I have had the privilege to witness and I think nobody put it better than one commentator who stated "Aviation's biggest secret is now out".
If any evidence was needed to show just how much they were appreciated when the came here, you need to look no further than the teams facebook page. A large proportion of the messages of condolence for the fallen airman are from those that witnessed their display at either RIAT or Waddington.
Thoughts go out to the team in this very difficult time.
