The Fighter Collection Curtiss P-47G Thunderbolt at Flying Legends 2012. One of only two airworthy "Razorbacks", she is the latest Thunderbolt to take to the sky having been through a six year restoration.

For those thinking Curtiss? I thought the Thunderbolt was Republic! Yes that is true, however this machine like many other Jugs was built in Curtiss factories to ease the burden of demand on Republic.

Really like those odd factoids! It is easy to forget sometimes how spread out and varied all the production was during the war.

Great capture!

She's one hell of a tough machine too. Definitely one of the true icons of aviation, when it looks right, flies right, and fights right too you have a legend on your hands I think. :)

yeah I've heard of pilots saying "They could fly right through a brickwall" obivously thats not true but the fact the P-47's had the lowest lost rate per sorte and the fact it could lose entire cylinders and keep flying is impressing
