Do you know if these acft were actually built by BAE? I have documentation showing that some of the British late model Harriers were built at McAir in St. Louis...

I'm afraid I do not know the answer to that, what I do know however is that she has certainly ended her days in the US. Since the retirement of the Harrier from the RAF, many of the airframes including this one are now at AMARG.

Data I have from McDonnell-Douglas production records show that T Mk.10s RAF SN's TX 1 through TX 4 were built in FY 1991, TX 5 through TX 8 were built in FY 92. The MAC ship numbers were 389 throughh 396. All eight acft were Block 20 jets.

RAF SNs TX 9 through TX13 were block 21 jets delivered in FY 92 and were MAC Ship numbers 397 through 401.
I have data that 96 GR Mk.5 jets were built at McAir as well. Was a T Mk. 12 a rebuild of a Mk 10?

The T.12 was indeed an upgraded T.10, I believe the RAF needed a trainer to reflect the GR7 to GR9 upgrade.

It does seem so yes! I knew the GR5 onwards were developed by McDonnell Douglas but I did not know they were built over there too. Interesting then that they were built in the US and will sadly end their days in the US too.

The Harrier is very much missed over here. It's hard to swallow for us that we let one of Britain greatest aviation legacies to end in such a way. Especially as they were still useful.

I understand! I do not know if you are familiar with a book by Derek Wood called "Project Cancelled", but there is an interesting chapter "Supersonics at Hawker" discussing the supersonic Harrier w/ the Gyron engines w/ plenum chamber burning, and how that technology was lost.

Why did Cameron and his bunch of idiots get rid of the carrier and the Harrier?

I was disgusted, the day they decided to retire these incredible craft. Pretty unique, and I think still have a useful role to play.
