Beautiful, yet in her time terrible in her anger, such an iconic aircraft from the "Cold War" captured beautifully. Seeing how difficult the light was on the day I love the way the light reflects off the upper wings of this stunning aircraft. Detail, light and colour are super and I love the sharpness of the image. Composition is excellent with the brooding dark clouds above and the rippling heat pouring out of her exhausts. The only thing that could have made this image perfect was a soundtrack of those mighty engines. Stunning image, super editing, would be honoured to have this hanging on my wall anyday.
The last of its kind, really nice capture. Btw there is an amazing british documentary which "stars" this iconic aircraft: "Falklands' Most Daring Raid". Thumbs up for the photo
Thanks very much! I'm sure I have seen that documentary at some point. I think it's shown occasionally on either the History channel or Discovery. As for the aircraft, she is only the last airworthy of her kind. There are many other on display in museums such as Duxford, Cosford, Newark etc. Although obviously being able to see her fly makes her somewhat special. Sadly it looks as though 2013 will be her last in terms of being an airworthy aircraft. I believe she needs some major maintenance after and unless a major sponsor is willing to fund the work which is doubtful she will be grounded after. So if by chance you get to see her this year, make the most of the opportunity.
Thank you! I got quite wet just after this was taken, but it was worth it. Luckily managed to get the camera gear in the dry before it started chucking it down though.
One of my friends always gets to Leuchars and was really down beat about the prospect of a wet show a couple of years ago. Apart from the danger of water on the gear there are some advantages. The air is moist and you have a chance of vorticies and more especially skys like this one as a backdrop. Critique's not bad either ! as I agree there too!!
